Welcome to Strings & TassieWood!
This is the site of Maria Pérez-Pulido, a passionate musician,
instrument maker and, more recently, keen researcher on the field of
Tasmanian wood species and their potential use in violin making.
The information presented in the following pages is aimed to open
communication between string instrument makers, players,
researchers on the field of wood acoustics, and suppliers of
Australian specialty timbers.
If you are interested in innovative materials and designs used in the making
of string instruments, violins in particular, please come in and browse!
"The creative individual not only respects the irrational in himself, but courts
the most promising source of novelty in his own thought … The creative person is both more primitive and more cultured, more destructive and more constructive, crazier and saner, than the average person." Fran Barron
